Regarding my Major Endorsements: I asked the following
6 people if they would endorse me in my run for a seat on the MVWSD School
Board. I purposefully did not ask any returning Board members if they would
endorse me, nor did I ask myriad friends to line up for a long endorsement
sheet. These 6 endorsers are listed here in the order that they are listed
on my campaign flier and website. Thank you again to these special 6!

I remember vividly when, from the offset, not only did you make yourself available for advice, but were always up to date on the "concurring affairs of state."
It was easy to discern your deep concern the Board had and the myriad of problems we had to solve. I recognized from the onset, right after the merger, of how much value your experience, high degree of education, concern, care and loving nature could bring if eventually you decided to run for this highly regarded Trustee position.
I endorsed you as soon as you declared that you would run, for I recognized the vitality and knowledge that you possess.
Many people questioned my leaving and then urged me to help look for someone to "carry the torch"; and to those friends of mine, to all those that stated: We Trust You, I say to you unequivocally Ellen is my choice. I have been her mentor, she is up to date on all the issues, which I faced, and also how I chose to deal with them. I have shared some time with her family and her husband is a power of his own. This is a family that united have decided as I once did, it is now our time to give, and in doing so, which though at times gets to be heavy, delves its own satisfaction to those who proudly wave it aloft.
Sincerely,
Juan Aranda
I am endorsing Ellen Wheeler because I believe she is intelligent and caring and that she will be dedicated to the best interests of every child in the Mountain View-Whisman school district.
- I feel that as an educator yourself you would bring to your board position a genuine understanding of the joys and challenges facing the educational system today.
- You have a proven commitment to Bubb School, and with your interest and experience you would commit yourself to all 9 schools.
- As a trained professional in different venues (law, education, etc.) you would be highly capable of analyzing information, data, community needs and concerns, and then transferring that into competent board service.
I endorse Ellen Wheeler for School Board Trustee because of her enthusiastic and caring attitude when it comes to working with children and the programs it takes to help them succeed in school. Ellen worked with me in an early literacy program aimed for children learning English, or below grade level in English. She was thoughtful in understanding the needs of the children and parents involved. She has been active in the Bubb School Site Council and PTA where she asks important questions regarding the goals for the school. I can trust that Ellen's intelligence and energy can only benefit the entire school district.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Carpenter
I am supporting Ellen Wheeler for trustee because I feel she cares about the education of each child in our district, and will be open and accessible to the community. I have known Ellen since we took a parenting class together when our children were babies, and know that she is a creative thinker willing to consider new solutions to the challenges in our district. I feel she will provide a strong independent voice on our school board.

When Ellen asked me to endorse her for the school board, there was no question in my mind that I would be more than happy to give her my support. I have known Ellen for many years: first as a fellow parent, then as my child's pre-school teacher, and as as volunteer at our children's elementary school. Her advocacy of youth has always been apparent. Her experience covers all perspectives of the job: teacher, parent, and professional. She has a creative way of thinking and is able to see all sides of an issue. She stays calm in any situation. Her sincerity, intelligence, and experience make her the perfect choice for the school board.

The following statement was signed by each of the above endorsers before I filed my candidacy papers with the Registrar of Voters for Santa Clara County:
"My signature below is my affirmation that I formally endorse Ellen Wheeler in her run for MVWSD School Board in the November 2002 election. This endorsement may be used on printed materials that Ellen's campaign distributes, in verbal conversations, in email, in the media, and on the internet."
