VERY BRIEF BIO. OF OUR NEW SUPERINTENDENT

Dr. Maurice Ghysels comes to us from the Campbell Union School District, just a few miles away up Hwy. 17, where he served as the Asst. Supt. and then Deputy Supt. since 2002.

He holds a BA in Economics from San Jose State University, a Masters in Administrative Services from Cal State Hayward, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organization from the University of San Francisco.

He started his career as a schoolteacher, and later got his administrative credential, and was a middle school and high school principal. In those capacities he was responsible for curriculum and instruction and all areas of site leadership and management, and he focused on student achievement across diverse levels of student education, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Dr. Ghysels took a break from education from the years 1996-2001 when he served as a Vice President at Citibank for 5 years and one year as the Chief Learning Officer for Groundswell, Inc..

Luckily for us, at the end of that time he called a colleague at Campbell Union School District, saying he wanted back in.

In his letter to our search firm Dr. Ghysels stated: "I seek this position because of my strong commitment and passion in the belief that all students can and will succeed. My aim is to build a long-term relationship as a strong and visionary leader to serve the MVWSD. My experience in curriculum and instruction, human resources, district finance, and technology reflects my ability to successfully lead the MVWSD in a community with high expectations for all students."

We are happy to introduce Dr. Maurice Ghysels to our community. The Board believes he is an excellent fit for our school district, and will be an exceptional superintendent.
